- Driveway: Higher Ground features a short, steep driveway. While the property is easily accessible, guests should be comfortable with standard mountain terrain.
- Basement Access: Please note that guests do not have access to the unfinished basement area.

Out of respect for the holidays and our employees, we do NOT allow ANY check-ins or outs on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day
NO PETS ALLOWED OF ANY KIND; IN THIS CABIN.
Check-In:
*3 pm - there is NO check-in office, you go straight to the cabin
Check-Out:
*10 am - Please follow our checkout guidelines.

*On During: October 1st - April 1st
Common Concerns:
*Road Conditions: Some of our cabins are on steep, narrow, curvy, mountain roads. If you are concerned about road conditions to get to a cabin, please feel free to ask us! None of our cabins requires a 4-wheel drive under normal weather conditions, but some do in inclement weather.
*TV & WiFi: We do have TVs and WiFi in most of our cabins. There are times when heavy cloud cover, weather systems, mountains, or trees will cause problems with the signals. We always want our guests to have the comforts they want on vacation, but there are times we cannot control this problem.
*Pests & Wildlife: Here in the Smoky Mountains, we have lots of native bugs and wildlife. All of our cabins are treated for pests, but there are times you will find bugs or even have trouble with bugs. Please let us know if they are causing trouble; we will handle it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please never feed, taunt, or approach any wildlife. This is their home, and we are the visitors.
Cancellation Policy:
*$50 cancellation fee
*Before 30 days - you will get all of your money back (-$50)
*Within 30 days - whatever dates we can rebook, this is the amount that we will refund (-$50). Example: if you had 5 nights & we rebooked 4 nights = you will be refunded 4 night+tax+cleaning fee

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cabin is clean, well equipped and very cozy. We enjoyed the fireplace, air hockey table and the jetted tub. We hope to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the porch. It was great as a couple’s weekend but it would also be great for a larger family or a few friends. It is close enough to the local amenities but also far enough away to not feel like you are on top of your neighbors. We hope to be back soon.

Once again, Smokey Cabins gains a FIVE STAR rating. Such a beautiful cabin fully appointed with everything you need. The have a coffeemaker and a K Cup maker. The owner even stocked the house with hot chocolate, peppermints and marshmallows. We loved sitting on the back porch swing! They even had two recliners, one for each of us. Don't miss the little area in Wears Valley complete with a winery, cafe and great General Store. We picked up some great Christmas gifts! Great restaurants and even an IGA nearby. Get out and enjoy a country drive or hike. So many gorgeous areas. Only negative is the steep drive from the main road to the cabin. Just take it easy and you'll be fine.

We stayed at Higher Ground for about a week and found it so comfortable and clean! Very homey feeling and loved the detail to the decorating for fall. Beds were very comfortable too which was very important to us. Would stay there again for sure.

Very nice cabin! We enjoyed our stay at Higher Ground. The decor is splendid, and we had fun playing checkers and air hockey in the game area. There is not much of a view due to foliage, but we enjoyed sitting on the porch swing and watching the squirrel who had made his home in a nearby tree. The drive is extremely steep, but the parking is adequate once you get up there. The only issue we had was that the shower door in the upstairs bathroom would not close. We notified management, but told them we could manage if they wanted to wait until we left to fix it. Hopefully they took care of that issue. I would definitely book this cabin again. Make sure to eat breakfast at Hillbilly's Restaurant if you are in this area!
