- The Downstairs Retreat: Perfect for families, the lower-level bedroom features a Queen bed plus a Full-under-Twin bunk set, giving the kids or extra guests their own dedicated space.
- Additional Sleeping: The spacious living room includes a sleeper sofa to accommodate larger groups.
- Three Full Bathrooms: With three full bathrooms (all featuring stand-up showers), there is never a wait to get ready for a day of adventure.

- Bonfire Pit: Gather everyone around the outdoor bonfire pit to roast marshmallows and swap stories under the stars.
- Ample Parking & Garage: Traveling with a trailer, motorcycles, or multiple vehicles? You’ll love the large, flat parking area. Guests also have full access to the garage for extra security and gear storage.

Situated on a large lot in a very quiet neighborhood, Mountain Shade offers the peace and quiet you come to Townsend for, while remaining just minutes from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Out of respect for the holidays and our employees, we do NOT allow ANY check-ins or outs on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day
NO PETS ALLOWED OF ANY KIND; IN THIS CABIN.
Check-In:
*3 pm - there is NO check-in office, you go straight to the cabin
Check-Out:
*10 am - Please follow our checkout guidelines.

Common Concerns:
*Road Conditions: Some of our cabins are on steep, narrow, curvy, mountain roads. If you are concerned about road conditions to get to a cabin, please feel free to ask us! None of our cabins requires a 4-wheel drive under normal weather conditions, but some do in inclement weather.
*TV & WiFi: We do have TVs and WiFi in most of our cabins. There are times when heavy cloud cover, weather systems, mountains, or trees will cause problems with the signals. We always want our guests to have the comforts they want on vacation, but there are times we cannot control this problem.
*Pests & Wildlife: Here in the Smoky Mountains, we have lots of native bugs and wildlife. All of our cabins are treated for pests, but there are times you will find bugs or even have trouble with bugs. Please let us know if they are causing trouble; we will handle it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please never feed, taunt, or approach any wildlife. This is their home, and we are the visitors.

*$50 cancellation fee
*Before 30 days - you will get all of your money back (-$50)
*Within 30 days - whatever dates we can rebook, this is the amount that we will refund (-$50). Example: if you had 5 nights & we rebooked 4 nights = you will be refunded 4 night+tax+cleaning fee

Wonderful place! Super clean and comfortable. Downstairs room with bunk beds great for kids! Kitchen stocked very well. Master bedroom windows don’t have curtains so might want to bring eye masks, worked great! Perfect vacation cabin, we’ll be back!

Mountain Shade was a great cabin for the five of us. Good/responsive communications with the mgrs. The bed and bath linens were very nice/plentiful. The soap, tp, dish detergent, trash bags provided were sufficient for the entire week. There's ample parking for 3-4 or more vehicles. Suggest you arrive in the daylight otherwise it can be hard to find the 1st time. GPS tells you you're there, but it's at the back of the property. You need to continue around another sharp curve and go to the 2nd driveway to be at the front. It was very difficult to find on a dark, rainy night, even with the directions provided. Showers were all on the smaller size, but avg size folks shouldn't have a problem; however, the heads don't seem to adjust. Bring your own blowdryer. No curtains in the main bedroom so plenty of morning light comes in. We had a couple of issues for mgt to address, which they did right away, with one being more successfully resolved than the other. We would stay here again on a future visit and recommend to others.

Had a very nice stay, cabin was nice, clean, and well well kept. It was easy to get to the surrounding areas. The cabin was well stocked with linens, towels, etc. Showers were small, not a lot of room in them. We Enjoyed our stay!

The cabin is just as listed on the site. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very easy to find and get to and it was very clean and well maintained. There were plenty enough towels, washcloths and toiletries. I will definitely book with them again.

Cabin was exactly as described and had everything we needed. The only negative comment I have is that a neighboring barn holds guinea hens that can get quite loud, but never loud enough to disturb us while indoors.
